Copiers That Can Collate

Collate vs. Copy | CBS Imaging Printer Copier Sales Washington DC Prince Georges County

A common question asked by our customers, especially during the training, is about the difference between collated and uncollated printing or copying.

This is the easiest way to explain the difference between the two is;

Collated means every page of your print job is kept in order.

Example: You have a 3 page document and you want 3 sets. You would choose “collate” so that you would have 3 sets each of the 3 documents place them in numerical order.

See below:

Collate vs. Uncollated | CBS Imaging Kyocera Sales and Service

Uncollated means that the machine will print the number of prints of each page separately, but will not place them in numerical order

Example: You are going to a meeting and you want to make copies of 3 separate pages, each of a different subject that is not related to the other, you would choose “uncollated."  The machine will then print 3 of the 1st page, 3 of the 2nd page and 3 of the 3rd page.

Optional Finisher - Staple

The “collated” and “uncollated” comes with the optional finisher. Kyocera offers 2 kinds of finishers:

  • 1,000 Sheet Finisher
  • 4,000 Sheet Finishers

These finishers come standard with multi-position stapling, the most common are:

  1. Staple on the Left Hand Corner and Booklet Stapling
  2. Staples on the left side of the paper.

An optional PUNCH Unit is available with the finishers.  Punch units can create 3 holes on the left hand side for 3-ring binders or 2 holes on the top of the paper.  The top 2 hole punch are commonly used in the medical field, by accountants and CPAs, attorneys and other industries.

Duplex Standard

All Kyocera MFDs come standard with Duplex (2-sided) copying. Having this feature, together with Stapling and Punch features would streamline your office and allow your employees to be more productive in their work by spending less time having to collate, staple or punch the prints manually.

Many customers ask me if our MFDs will save their employees time, and this is how I respond: Having the collating feature, together with Stapling and Punch features would streamline your office and allow your employees to be more productive in their work by spending less time having to collate, staple or punch the prints manually.
